Episode 011: Leather Belt
I had a lot of fun making this episode. In addition to the actual project, which was making a custom, hand-tooled leather belt, we get to talk some about leather in general. We also talk a bit about leather care, specifically, the products that I use on an antique saddle that I own. The saddle is now for display purposes only, but it was originally owned by my great-great-grandfather in the “Wyoming Territory.” Yep, that’s pre-statehood, so this is a pretty old saddle. In the course of discussing the saddle, we also get to talk a bit about Louis Henry Schneider, the saddle’s original owner, and some of my own family history.
The book that I recommend if you’re interested in making your own leather belt is called “Belts Galore” by Al Stohlman.
