Episode 012: Amazon Blackwater Fish Tank

If you’ve ever thought about keeping fish or setting up an aquarium, listen to this episode. I’ll walk you through the basics of setting up a new tank, and I’ll also attempt to explain the nitrogen cycle (the “secret sauce” to any healthy aquarium). In this episode, we take it one step further, setting up a biotope tank, a tank that imitates a very specific place in nature, not just a glass cube that some fish live in. Specifically, we’re creating an Amazon River blackwater tank. This allows us to go into some additional topics as well- water pH, tannins, salinity, aquascaping, fish stocking, plants, and so on. I know this project is a little different, but I hope you enjoy it anyway.
